Ah, I’ve been using XP ever since it came out, and everyone knows it’s not the best OS (speed-wise). Moving your mouse sometimes can make your computer go crashie, but I’ve noticed that using a keyboard shortcut always works!
Note: They’re randomly listed. They work with Vista as well!
- Alt + Tab
Arguably, the most popular shortcut of all, you can use it to navigate through open windows. Very useful!
- Windows Key + D
Wanna bring all your windows down, simple, hit the Windows Key (the one that opens the Start menu) and D. Down they go!
- Ctrl+F5
Very useful Indeed, instead of digging through your browser’s settings to clear your cache, try this for a change!
- Shift + Alt
Wanna change to another typing language? Use this shortcut, save you the trouble of going to the language bar.
- Alt + F4
Close the current open window. Doesn’t get any simpler than that.
- And now for the most useful one (after all this is Windows XP
)
Ctrl+Alt+Delete
Frozen? End the process or program that’s freezing the whole OS!
Got anything that you think should be up here? Lemme know in the comments ;D

Desktop Earth, something I recently discovered. It’s an application that shows you the Earth from space. How awesome?!
You may think “f***! This is gonna slow my computer down” and… you’re wrong. It doesn’t, or at least for me. There are options that you can choose to exclude from your desktop, such as clouds and lighting etc.
You may be really excited about it, but realistically it gets boring, and has a few bugs. The day after I installed it, I got weird text on the screen and had to restart my computer a couple of times before it went away. I think it’s caused from the cloud updates
It would’ve been better if it had zooming options, the ability to rotate (if its an active desktop item), in summary — more interaction. I tried it on my Vista laptop, didn’t work. It worked fine on XP. Definitely not Ubuntu (Wine). Add those features, and it become a must-have app.
And maybe, I’ll use it, but for now, the normal everyday wallpaper will do.

Bored? Wanna play a prank on someone? I’m sure you’ve heard of the Blue Screen of Death, and probably experienced it if you’re on Windows. Microsoft has a BSOD screensaver up for download on its site, so go ahead, play a harmless prank on someone.
Tricked someone using this? Let me know how it went in the comments. I could use a good laugh.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Ubuntu Linux — Ubuntu Linux is a free OS, just like Windows XP — but for free. When I say just like Windows XP, I mean it is something that you run on your computer/laptop. Not a OS that everyone complains about.
They’re completely 2 different things!
I’m sure you’ve heard of XP, Vista, and Mac OS X, so I don’t think I need to tell you a bit about it like Linux; but I will anyway. XP, the most used operating system in the world, and made by Microsoft, and is probably what you run. Vista, the XP-wannabe IMO, has too many bugs, is improving, but not being given a second chance. Mac, the “perfect” alternative to Windows, in many people’s minds, but it too has some downsides.
In this post, we’ll (me
) be comparing 4 operating systems (OS’), Ubuntu Linux, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and last but not least, Mac OS X. Why does this matter, you ask? You’ll just go with the popular one? XP? No my friend, this is gonna help you decide on which is best for you
