So Apple announced its new tablet coined as the “iPad.” As usual Steve Jobs gets on stage with the same sweater and jeans, talks then demos the thing then the other guy comes up and so on. So I decided I’ll post some thoughts of mine after all the hype wears off a bit.
By the way, I’m not buying this thing but if you wanna send me one for free my hands are open
On to the thoughts..
I really dislike the name. Apple, you had choices and you picked the worst one! You had iStale, iTablet, iBook, but you picked iPad?! When you’re skimming through headlines, you can easily mistake it for ‘iPod’. Oh and what of the period jokes! They’ll just never end.
Why would I want to use this thing anyway? Steve Jobs said its between the smartphone and the laptop, I just see it as an iPhone with a different interface. I just can’t stress this enough! The iPhone can do everything it does plus take pictures and videos. So can laptops, and they’re just as portable. On the other hand, it can act as a backup. Now I’m not the kind of guy that moves around a lot but if you are, you might actually benefit from its 10hr battery life. I’m not saying the thing sucks, I just don’t see where it fits.
Hold on.. What made the iPhone so ‘WOW!’? The touchscreen, it was something no one had ever seen before. The scrolling, the pinching, the accelormeter, the large screen etc. Why didn’t Apple do something different with the iPad? Why is it running iPhone OS? Why not OS X if it’s ‘like a laptop’? Or even better, why not its own OS? Something like Microsoft’s Surface PC would’ve been cool. Just think about it, playing around with stuff like that; it would’ve been a whole new experience! People would’ve gone crazy because of all the hype, and Apple wins again. Should’ve been, could’ve been, would’ve been, but wasn’t.
Oh and why the with or without 3G option? This is just like the 4GB iPhone, it’s going to be discontinued.
Flash on the iPad is a biggie. Why no Flash? You want the ‘best browsing experience’? You gotta have flash. Save it Steve, a computer browser holds that spot. End of story.
How do you decided which app you want to download that suits your needs? You go with the popular one of course. Lots of people use it, that means it’s not that bad. Well guess what? You’re wrong!
Twitterific TwitterFon
Well first you don’t get an annoying ad between each tweet with TwitterFon. Second, it has more features such as retweeting. Third, An easier to use interface. Fourth, a search feature. Fifth, no annoying tweet sound when you receive something new. Sixth, it’s free. Seventh, you can moderate your tweets (deleting etc.). Take that Twitterific!
I am now on my new iPod Touch writing this post. The application rocks but I did run into a few hold ups. I was getting an error about the external publishing option not being enabled; it was enabled. I searched around and found something on the application’s subsite. It was useful, but then it started working; it’s luck. On to the review:
The interface is pretty cool, it is a clean and easy to use interface. I think I’m in love. It follows the iPhone/iPod style of blue, white, and gray. BTW the screenshots are at the bottom.
For me, I find the device keyboard very annoying to type with. For future versions, I strongly recommend keyboard/input settings.
I edited a post from the application, its just too easy!
Today I registered to MySpace, and found out that it totally sucks. Facebook is way better and less confusing.
Also my dear blog, WordPres.com will be going 2.7 today. I wonder if that will make me switch to WP.com. I’ve always had this thought in my head, about moving to WordPress.com. I wonder why. Self-hosted has way more features, and I’m gonna end up paying either way, lol.

By far, this is the simplest tutorial I have ever done! I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that all of you know how to do it in Windows, but if you need to know how on Mac OS X or Linux, here’s how:
In Windows XP: Copy the font to ‘C:/WINDOWS/Fonts’
In Windows Vista: Right click the font and select ‘Install’
Mac OS X: Double click the font and select ‘Install font’
For those of you who aren’t familiar with Ubuntu Linux — Ubuntu Linux is a free OS, just like Windows XP — but for free. When I say just like Windows XP, I mean it is something that you run on your computer/laptop. Not a OS that everyone complains about. They’re completely 2 different things!
I’m sure you’ve heard of XP, Vista, and Mac OS X, so I don’t think I need to tell you a bit about it like Linux; but I will anyway. XP, the most used operating system in the world, and made by Microsoft, and is probably what you run. Vista, the XP-wannabe IMO, has too many bugs, is improving, but not being given a second chance. Mac, the “perfect” alternative to Windows, in many people’s minds, but it too has some downsides.
In this post, we’ll (me ) be comparing 4 operating systems (OS’), Ubuntu Linux, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and last but not least, Mac OS X. Why does this matter, you ask? You’ll just go with the popular one? XP? No my friend, this is gonna help you decide on which is best for you (more…)
